Empowering Communities through their own initiatives |
African Community Initiative for Social Transformation (ACIST) is a membership organization. It was formed in 2007 and registered under National NGO Board. ACIST’s general purpose is to mobilise and support /empower communities through their own initiatives to participate in realization of the Millennium Development Goals. i) ACIST believes very strongly in the principles of accountability and transparency in the discharge of its objectives and the conduct of its activities. ii) ACIST believes in the concept of Social inclusion of all hitherto marginalized groups iii) ACIST in all its operations will be people Centred recognizing cultural diversity and social values of different groups. iv) ACIST shall be guided by principals of respect, trust and equity. |
The concept of ACIST is based on the premise that there is need to empower communities to analyze the root causes of under-development and therefore begin to find the appropriate home grown remedies. Management and promotion of the GS1 system amongst the MOs. |
